Braxton Block Party: Draft List

The garage was always the center of our block parties growing up. It was a place where we shared special moments with our friends. We’d have bands, food, and of course – beer! It’s in that light that we’re incredibly excited to share the list of our friends participating in this year’s Block Party. We’re thrilled to welcome these amazing breweries and beers to our Garage to celebrate our first bottle release! You can see more about the breweries and beers here:

Braxton Brewing Company – Dark Charge Imperial Stout: A massive Imperial Stout. Dark as the Covington night, this beer features notes of stone fruits, chocolate, coffee, oak, roasted malts, and umami. With an oil-like consistency, and tan head, it is bold enough to inspire you and strong enough to light up a city. ABV: 10% 

Moerlein – 11/162: A smooth, malt-driven Scottish Wee Heavy Ale, meticulously aged in Smooth Ambler Bourbon Barrels. The sweet notes of grain and dark fruit combine with the oak and bourbon to produce a beer worthy of celebrating these two auspicious anniversaries. ABV: 7%

New Belgium – Blackberry Barleywine: Blackberry Barley Wine’s modeled after the smoother, more nuanced English barleywine style, and clocks in at a wonderfully chest-warming 10% ABV. Tasting profile of really thick bread crust with caramelized sugar on top, and then blackberry notes. ABV: 10% IBU: 50

Upland Brewing Company – Dantalion Dark Wild Ale: Medium brown in color, Dantalion has hints of chocolate, Munich malts, and rye. Upland also incorporates a spice blend containing ginger, coriander, star anise, grains of paradise, and black pepper to create a gentle halo of spice character. The beer is fermented on the same selection of yeasts and microbes as their base lambic, and aged for up to 8 months or more in white oak barrels. ABV: 8.5%

Braxton Brewing Company – Dark Charge Imperial Stout Bourbon Barrel Aged: A massive Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout that showcases Kentucky’s heritage – Bourbon. Dark as the Covington night, this beer features notes of stone fruits, chocolate, coffee, oak, roasted malts, and umami. With an oil-like consistency, and tan head, it is bold enough to inspire you and strong enough to light up a city. ABV: 10% 

Rhinegeist – Barrel Aged Gramps: This “Double Oaked” Barleywine spent 6 months in Hendry Pinot barrels and was then finished in Buffalo Trace barrels for the next 6 months. ABV: 11.5%

Ei8ht Ball – Reintarnation: This GABF medal-winning beer comes is a Barrel Aged Golden Ale. Tarnished Ale, Aged in fresh Bourbon Barrels for three months. ABV: 9.8%

Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale – 3-Year Stout: This beer was made specifically to celebrate Kentucky Ale’s 15th Anniversary. This was laid in the freshest Town Branch Bourbon casks in 2012. This beer brings nots of bourbon, oak, and coffee. ABV: 10.0%

Central State Brewing – Totes McOaks: Brett Pale Ale aged in Oak – A classic-style pale ale with a strong malt backbone and cascade hops. The Brett yeast adds a twist that brightens the flavor and adds a hint of funk. This batch sat for three months on new American White Oak to add hints of Vanilla and toast that really emphasize the funk.

Braxton Brewing Company – Dark Charge Imperial Stout Bourbon Barrel Aged with Vanilla: A massive Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout that showcases Kentucky’s heritage – Bourbon. Dark as the Covington night, this beer features notes of stone fruits, chocolate, coffee, oak, roasted malts, and umami. With an oil-like consistency, and tan head, it is bold enough to inspire you and strong enough to light up a city. For this batch, we’ve added fresh Madagascar Vanilla beans. ABV: 10%

Blank Slate – Barrel Aged Shroominous: This Barrel Aged Brown Ale is brewed with mushrooms. English character malts combine with earthy American hops in this hybrid Northern English/American Brown Ale. The addition of the shiitake gives it an extra hit of earthiness and a touch of that savory quality.

Quaff Bros – 2014 Flying Pig Pumpkin Ale aged in Bourbon Barrels: This Bourbon Barrel Aged Pumpkin Ale is an incredible addition to the block party! It’s a collaboration between Quaff Bros and Rivertown. ABV: 8%

Rivertown – Triumvirate – Gin Barrel Aged Sour: This collaboration between Rivertown Brewing Co., The Rookwood, and Smooth Ambler Spirits brings a delicious blend of wild ale, spices, and citrus, all aged in a gin barrel, this fine beverage will call to mind the classic gin cocktail that inspired it.

Braxton Brewing Company – Dark Charge Imperial Stout Bourbon Barrel Aged with Starter Coffee: A massive Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout that showcases Kentucky’s heritage – Bourbon. Dark as the Covington night, this beer features notes of stone fruits, chocolate, coffee, oak, roasted malts, and umami. With an oil-like consistency, and tan head, it is bold enough to inspire you and strong enough to light up a city. For this batch, we’ve added our proprietary coffee blend — Starter. ABV: 10%

MadTree – Barrel Aged Axis Mundi with Coffee and Vanilla: Repurposed American oak bourbon barrels are filled with Russian Imperial Stout which digs down to its ancestral roots and is tucked away until the proper time to be unearthed, releasing the flavors as rich and dark as the soil the World Tree thrives in.

Jackie O’s – Bourbon Barrel Brick Kiln: This Barrel Aged Barleywine pours brown with very little head. The aroma is caramel malt, nutty, bourbon, vanilla and oak. The flavor is a wonderful blend of sweet caramel, fresh nuts, bourbon, vanilla, wood and light cherry notes. ABV: 10.5%

West 6th – Slap Happy Brown: BA Brown Ale – This American Brown Ale is aged in Bourbon Barrels. ABV 7%

New Belgium – Le Terroir: French, meaning ‘from the terrain, soil, land, ground, earth.’ You may have heard it as a wine term. But beer has it too, especially a New Belgium sour beer, which oozes terroir from the pores of the wooden foeders we age it in. They produce a base beer that’s golden-colored with a soft overripe peach aroma and just the right amount of tart. Round out that fruity base with even more unique fruity hops like Amarillo and Galaxy, and this beer may just have more terroir than your classiest wine. ABV: 7.5%
