The Story of Braxton Brewing Company
At Braxton, a garage is more than a garage. It’s a place where we build our hopes and dreams, storing them on the wall neat as garden tools. Really, the garage is a hub. A reliable place from which we launch into the world, and enjoy a safe return.
We hang out in our garages. Saturday mornings, afternoons, long into the night. Sometimes hosting neighbors, family and friends, other times in blissful solitude, tinkering on projects, obsessing over a problem or making something great. Think of the garages in your past. You’ll remember your dad fixing a lawnmower or building a table, where he taught you to say “Yes, sir.” You can almost smell the oil and beer.

But more and more the family garage is an incubator, an enterprise zone. It’s part of the beautiful renaissance happening in the middle of this great country. So it was for Evan Rouse. Evan, from Union, Kentucky, was a pretty extraordinary kid. Because while other kids played video games and started garage bands, Evan fell in love with the craft of brewing beer. And he built a home brewery in the family garage. He was just 16 years old, not even of age.
For Evan, brewing beer was more than an idea, it was a revolution. Because from that humble start, Evan’s love for brewing has become his entrepreneurial obsession. He’s building the brewery of his dreams. And his entire family is on board, helping him get it done. (The truth is, it’s a pretty extraordinary family.)
So welcome to Braxton Brewing Company. You’re witnessing a dream coming to life. A place where ideas are born and fermented. It’s a great deal of work, but hell, that’s what makes a dream worth pursuing. This brewery celebrates determination, knowledge, and the humble pride we wave like a battle flag.
BRAXTON CODE OF CONDUCT
All persons hold the right to operate and co-exist in an environment where each individual is treated with dignity, respect, integrity, and fairness. Braxton Brewing Company is committed to providing an environment free of discrimination. Abusive, offensive, or harassing behavior is not tolerated.
As such, Braxton Brewing Company’s employees, guests, and vendors must:
Subscribe to a positive environment that is free of hostile and offensive behaviors. Unacceptable behaviors include but are not limited to:
- Belittling, or subtle expressions of bias;
- Verbal, physical, or written abuse or assault;
- Bullying, intimidation, victimization or discrimination;
- Inappropriate use of company property or assets;
- Failure to comply with company values;
- Illegal activity.
Respect the human dignity of all individuals and groups, regardless of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression, age, physical or mental disability, size or appearance, genetic pre-disposition, religion, ancestry, national origin, or veteran status.
Promote lawful cooperation within the craft brewing industry between members, guests, and vendors.
Harassment can be defined as: any unwelcome or inappropriate verbal or physical action; or coercive behavior, where the behavior is known or reasonably ought to be recognized as unwanted or unwelcome. Harassment includes but is not limited to:
- Gratuitous or off-topic sexual images or behavior;
- Physical contact and simulated physical contact without consent or after a request to stop; Threats of violence;
- Incitement of violence towards any individual;
- Deliberate intimidation;
- Stalking or following;
- Harassing photography or recording;
- Sustained disruption of discussion;
- Unwelcome sexual attention;
- Pattern of inappropriate social contact, such as requesting/assuming inappropriate levels of intimacy with others;
- Continued one-on-one communication after requests to cease;
- Deliberate “outing” of any aspect of a person’s identity without their consent except as necessary to protect vulnerable people from intentional abuse;
- Publication of non-harassing private communication.
BREACHES OF THIS CODE OF CONDUCT
- A guest or vendor not acting in accordance with the Code of Conduct may be asked to leave the premises.
- Any employee not acting in accordance with the Code of Conduct will be investigated and an appropriate course of action will be taken, which may include reprimand, suspension, and/or termination of employment.
