Winter Block Party: FAQ’s

In our excitement for this weekend’s Winter Block Party & Dark Charge Release, we’ve received a lot of questions. We’ve done our best to answer those as they’ve come up. However, we want you to have as much information as possible. We’ve done our best to compile the questions here. If you have other questions, reach out to us in the Facebook Event.

  • What is the process for purchasing bottles?
    • The bottle release will happen in the taproom. At 12p, the doors will open. We had a line last year and expect one once again this year. Once in the taproom, you will be able to purchase tickets for your bottles. The number of tickets will match the number of bottles available…exactly. You will then proceed into the garage area of the taproom where you will exchange your tickets for your bottles. We will keep you posted on the number of bottles remaining in the Facebook event and via twitter.
  • Sounds great, where do I park?
    • Great question. Like all of our events, we recommend using Uber to ensure you get to and from the event safely. First time users can use promo code “DarkCharge16” to receive a free first ride. If you are driving, please reference the map below for best parking options.

  • What time is the event?
    • Both the Block Party and Bottle Release open at 12p. The Bottle Release will run until the bottles are sold out. The Block Party will take place outside in a heated tent from 12p-11p. The taproom is open until 1a.
  • Is the outdoor tent heated?
    • Yes, we have more than enough heat to keep everyone warm throughout the day and evening. Not to mention the awesome tap lineup that will help with that.
  • Is this a ticketed event?
    • It isn’t! Admission is free. Beer prices will range from $5.50 to $7.00.
  • Is this event kid friendly?
    • Yes, until 9pm. However, we do expect it to be a crowded event and ask that you use your best judgment when deciding whether or not to bring your under-21 guests.
  • Is this event dog friendly?
    • Yes, until 9pm as long as your dog is on a leash. Again, we do expect this to be a crowded environment. Please use your best judgment in deciding whether or not your furry friend will do well in a crowd.
  • Is there food?
    • Can’t have great beer without great food. Three food trucks will be available. Cuban Pete’s, Empanadas Aqui, and Texas Joe.
  • What’s the live music schedule?
    • You can read more about the live music schedule here.
  • Is the event in the taproom or outside?
    • The bottle release is in the taproom. The Winter Block Party featuring live music, 18 guest taps, special Braxton Barrel-Aged beers, the pull-the-pin experience, food trucks, and coffee booth are all in the lot adjacent to the taproom. You can see the layout of the outdoor tent below. Plan accordingly!

  • What guest taps do you have and when are they being tapped? How much do they cost?
    • You can read more about the guest tap lineup here. The tapping schedule, Braxton’s Barrel-Aged beers, pour sizes and pricing can all be found here.
  • Will you run out of bottles?
    • Likely, but we don’t know for sure. We would not recommend waiting until after Saturday to get your 2016 Dark Charge bottles. They will not be available outside of Braxton Brewing Co.
  • Can I reserve bottles online?
    • You cannot. Unlike our other bottle releases, you will not be able to reserve Dark Charge online. Our Co-Founder & CEO talked about this decision here.
  • Is it a bottle release or party?
    • Yes! It’s both! It’s a party celebrating the bottle release and our craft beer community. The bottle release is inside the taproom while the party is in a heated tent outside, directly adjacent to the brewery.
  • What happens once you’re out of bottles?
    • Party on. While the bottle release in the taproom will be over, the party will still be bumping outside. You can try the variants on tap, listen to live music, get food, try our 18 guest taps, taste bourbon barrel-aged coffee and…more!
  • Will all of my favorite Braxton beers be on tap?
    • Yes, the standard Braxton core styles will be on tap. In addition to the 2016 Dark Charge variants, we’ll have some beers from the garage series and a couple of specialty beers! Those are listed here:
      • 2015 Dark Charge Bourbon Barrel-Aged

Bottles of Bourbon Barrel-Aged Starter Coffee Beans will also be available to purchase and take home if you wish.
  • Will growler fills be available?
    • Inside the taproom, you’ll be able to get crowler and growler fills of Braxton Core Styles and Garage Series beers. You will not be able to get growler fills of any of the beers on tap in the Block Party tent or any of the Dark Charge Variants.
