We at Braxton Brewing Company are hopped up to announce the newest addition to our core lineup of excellent beers. Introducing: Tropic Flare!
You may remember it as “Yesterday’s Headlines” or “NE IPA: Galaxy, Citra, Mosaic”. Tropic Flare is a New England Style IPA that we carefully refined over a year of innovation and experimentation at Labs. We are now proud to announce the addition of this lush and hazy IPA to our core beer lineup! The New England Style IPA, or “hazy IPA” has become popular beer style over the past few years. If you recall – Braxton Labs Grand Opening in May of 2017 featured a New England Style IPA. This particular beer began a series of experimental NE IPAs that led to the creation of Tropic Flare. Tropic Flare is an approachable and low bitterness New England Style IPA. With a crowd pleasing hop profile, Tropic Flare is perfect for hardcore IPA fans and beer drinkers who prefer sweeter and more rounded hop characteristics.
Seeing this beer evolve from a concept at the beginning of Braxton Labs, to undergoing multiple test runs as a part of our NE IPA Numbered Series, and finally make it to a full scale launch within the core beer lineup through Braxton has been an incredible process to witness. It’s exciting to see the concept of Braxton labs come to fruition in such a big way. Testing small experimental batches in a control environment with a focused market, then calling up our favorites and the most well received beers to the big leagues of full scale production at Braxton HQ.
This process is exactly what we imagined when we opened Braxton Labs.
Tropic Flare is a straw yellow New England IPA that weighs in at 6.8% ABV and 35 IBU. It is triple dry hopped with over 4 pounds per barrel of Galaxy, Citra, and Mosaic Hops, and combined with hefty amounts of flaked oats and lactose to balance the citrusy hoppy profile with a smooth and creamy finish. This IPA is bursting with fresh, tropical aromas, and contains a multitude of juicy citrus and pineapple flavors. It is rounded out by velvety sweetness from the lactose and oats, which hold it true to the New England IPA style. Its name is an homage to the burst of fresh tropical fruit and succulent hop profile within each sip.
“With the addition of Braxton Labs in 2017, we have been hard at work at perfecting the New England Style IPA,” said Evan Rouse, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer of Braxton Brewing Company. “Our Lead Innovation Brewer, Zac, has a love for this style and it truly shows. Over the last year and a half we have produced more than two dozen unique NE IPA’s really trying to nail the nuances of the style. With the roots of Tropic Flare coming from very similar recipes as Yesterday’s Headlines Volume 3 and Braxton Labs NE IPA: Citra, Galaxy, Mosaic –
“We feel this product is a perfect example of the style and more than deserving of being in a year round can.”
“The combination of Citra, Galaxy, and Mosaic hops creates simply one of the best IPA’s I’ve ever tasted – I couldn’t be more thrilled for our brewing team to bring this product to life at scale.” Said CO-Founder and CEO Jake Rouse. “What’s great about Tropic Flare is its low bitterness that appeals to both IPA lovers and non IPA lovers alike – I can’t wait for everyone to taste it!”
