Meet the Scientists: Brian Morris & JC Jordan

It’s a grown up science fair…a BEER Science Fair! Braxton Labs is our space dedicated to innovation and experimentation. That’s what we’ll be doing at our Beer Science Fair on Saturday, September 30th.

JOIN THE EVENT HERE

Our brewing team (eight strong) plus seven guest breweries have conducted experiments and we need your help judging them!

Beginning at noon, we’re turning the beer garden into a Beer Science Fair at Braxton Labs. You can get a single taster for $3 or 10 tasters for $25. You’ll get to vote for your favorite Braxton beer and we’ll announce the winner at the end of the day. But unlike those boring science fairs of your younger years, we’ll have live music, local food, lots of beer and more. Below, meet two of the mad scientists conducting exbeeriments this Saturday!

Q: What’s your name and role at Braxton?

Brian Morris and I’m a Brewer/Cellarman

Q: Briefly describe your beer/firkin?

I used Sparky, our American Wheat Ale, as the base beer and I’ve infused it with Blueberry and Lime Jam from Made by Mavis.

Q: What inspired your firkin?

Delicious blueberry and lime pancakes.

Q: What’s your favorite Braxton beer?

Oktober Fuel, besides being a delicious example of the style, its production methods (using decoction) reinforce Braxton’s commitment to trying to make the very best beer possible.

Q: What’s your name and role at Braxton?

I’m JC Jordan and I am a brewer and cellarman at Braxton.

Q: Briefly describe your beer/firkin?

My firkin is a combination of lemon, garlic, pepper, and dry hopping with saaz hops into Storm Golden Cream Ale.

Q: What inspired your firkin?

The lemon, pepper, and garlic are inspired by a seasoning combination I like to use on various meats I grill at home.

Q: What’s your favorite Braxton beer and Braxton Labs beers and why?

My favorite Braxton beer is the Oktober Fuel, something that to me is the beer of beers.

My current Labs favorite is the Imperial Black IPA, a style I enjoy but never seem to be able to find anywhere.

Q: Why do you think you will win?

I think my firkin will be the winner because it is a combination that works well with grilled meat, and nothing goes with grilled meat like a beer.

We’ve been profiling the 8 Braxton Brewing Team Members who will be at Beer Science Fair this weekend. Learn more about our “Mad Scientists” below:
