Beer Science Fair is an event to celebrate creativity, innovation, and individualism within the craft brewing industry. 9 of our brewers have put their noses to the grindstone to come up with firkins for testing and judging by YOU at Beer Science Fair on September 29th at Braxton Labs.
We’re very excited about the beers that our brewers have been working on, and we’re looking forward to sharing them with you! The third brewer submitting a firkin to the Beer Science Fair is Evan Rouse. Evan is Braxton’s Chief Product Officer, and can be found in the brewery overseeing brewing and other processes. Evan also has his hands in brewing innovation and planning. You can thank him for being the brains behind quite a few of your favorite Braxton Beers! Check out what Evan had to say about his firkin for Beer Science Fair Below.
Evan, What’s your role at Braxton?
Chief Product Officer.
Can you describe your beer/firkin?
Summertrip Smoothie – using Summer Trip as a base and adding a plethora of tropical and citrus fruits with a little lactose to give it the mouthfeel of a tropical smoothie.
What inspired you to create this beer for the Science Fair?
Quite simply, I love smoothies and haven’t had one in what seems like too long.
Why are you excited about your firkin?
Because I want to beat Bird, the unanimous victor from last year… and who doesn’t love Summertrip or a good smoothie?
What’s been your favorite Braxton beer/Braxton Labs beer this year and why?
Garage Beer for Braxton as it has been a long time in the works and came out exactly as expected. Labs would be Key Lime Pie Berliner Weisse – it tasted exactly like biting into a key lime pie.
Why do you think your firkin will win the blue ribbon?
I’m not sure, but as long as I beat Bird, I’ll be happy.
